She was raised in Benson, North Carolina where she was educated in the Johnston County public school system. After high school graduation she joined the North Carolina National Guard where she served honorably for over eleven years. She left the Guard to join the United States Army, serving a term of four years before ending her military career. It was during her military service that she met and married her traveling sweetheart Elder John Woods.<\/p>\n<p>At the conclusion of her military career she began her educational journey entering Wake Technical Community College earning her Associates Degree in Business. Her educational journey continued at Campbell University where she graduated with honors in the Bachelor of Applied Science Program with a Business concentration. She has been employed with the state of North Carolina for a number of years with the Division of Air Quality.<\/p>\n<p>Knowing the calling was upon her life she waited to make her calling and election sure while spending time studying the word and seeking the face of God. Under the pastorate of Elder Terrence McCrimmon she heard the Lord say, \u201cGo\u201d. Her initial sermon was entitled \u201cThe Devil Thought He Had Me But I Got Away\u201d. It was not just a sermon, but a true testimony.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1>Elder John Woods<\/h1>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-271\" style=\"margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" alt=\"Woods, John\" src=\"http:\/\/capefearswac.org\/harnett-chapel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2014\/02\/Woods-John-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>Elder John Woods is the eldest of eight children born to the late Ethel Bell Wynn, in Newnan, Georgia.\u00a0 He was reared and educated in the Newnan, Georgia public school system. After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served honorably for over twenty four years and retired in 1991. It was during his duty station at Pope Air Force Base that he met and married his best friend Elder Vickie Woods.<\/p>\n<p>Later, while working part time at Buies Creek Elementary School as a janitor he began a course of study at Campbell University. After earning a degree in Counseling he became a school Counselor in the Harnett County School System. He served most of his Counseling career at Harnett Primary School in Dunn, North Carolina before retiring in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>But, in 2007, the now Elder John Woods, shared with his pastor, Elder Terrence McCrimmon, God\u2019s call upon his life. After much prayer, fasting and talking with his pastor he moved forward into his calling in 2008. His initial sermon was entitled \u201cI Am.\u201d Elder Woods not only loves preaching God\u2019s Word but he also has a passion for Sunday School and Bible Study. He is always willing to use his gift of teaching God\u2019s Word any place God opens a door.<\/p>\n<p>Elder Woods has also served the Cape Fear and Southwestern Conference faithfully over the years in various capacities, including President of the Deacon Aide Brotherhood Society.
