Holiness Chapel

Church History

Holiness Chapel FWB Church came into existence around 1923 when some members of the community started to worship together in a place called Nubbin Hill. Rev. Lofton was the first known minister that we have record of and Rev. Raeford Armstrong Sr. followed.

In the 1950’s the first church was torn down and a new church was built. Rev. John D. McKoy was the pastor during that time. He served as pastor for 17 years. He remained faithful until his health failed.

Some of the previous pastors were: Rev. McNeill, Rev. Williams, Rev. L.K. Price, Rev. Mitchell, Rev. McLean, Rev. Raynor, Rev. Author Tew, Bishop Henry McLean, Elder Carl Talton, Rev. Larry Ray, Bishop Robert Murphy, and Elder Roy Campbell.

Some former trustees were: Bro. Foster Armstrong and Deacon Walter Massey, Rev. James Tew, George Armstrong, and Harold Munn.

Deacon Stanford Murphy and Deacon James Lawrence served faithfully as deacons until their death.

We thank God for where he brought us from. Mule and wagons, out houses, lamp lights, hitched windows, board pews, no carpet, and dusty roads.

During the 90 years that our church has been in existence we have made many improvements from building a new church, paving the road to the church and purchasing equipment to keep the church running smoothly.

Elder George McIver served as pastor from 2008 until his health began to fail. He retired from pastoring October 2017.
Elder Thaddaeus Evans was elected as pastor in August 2018. He was installed as pastor February 2, 2019.
